A DRINK driver has been banned from getting behind the wheel by Worcester magistrates.
Shehroz Kiani, of Ludstock Close, Worcester, admitted drink-driving when he appeared at Worcester Magistrates Court on Thursday, (October 20).
Mark Hambling, prosecuting, told magistrates the 31-year-old was stopped by police in his Hyundai in Mealcheapen Street, Worcester, at 2am on August 21 this year.
An evidential reading of 52mcg of alcohol per 100ml of breath was taken at Worcester Police Station, above the legal limit of 35mcg.
Mr Hambling said the prosecution placed the offence in guidelines that meant Kiani faced a 16-month ban.

Kiani, who defended himself, said he agreed with the prosecution's case.
"I'm extremely apologetic," the 31-year-old said.
Kiani, who had no previous convictions, asked magistrates if he could be given the shortest possible ban.
Jayne Burton, chairman of the magistrates bench, told Kiani the bench had decided to ban him for 12-months.
The chairman said they were offering him the drink-drive awareness course which, if he successfully completes, would reduce the ban length.
Magistrates fined him £466, and ordered he pay costs of £185 and a victim surcharge of £186.
Kiani offered to pay the total, £837, at a rate of £150 per month - an offer which was accepted by the magistrates.
