THE FORMER site of a popular vegan restaurant in Worcester city centre has been sold.

Be The Change, on New Street, closed down earlier this year and it appears a new buyer has been found for the site.

A large sign above the restaurant is now brandishing a sign saying sold subject to contracts.

However, it is not known who has bought the building or what their future plans are for the site.

The building that housed Be The Change appeared for sale on RightMove last month for £325,000 'with vacant possession.

The premises was advertised as an 'extremely attractive freehold Grade II listed building'.

The three-storey building was also described as having a cellar and a rear yard.

The fixtures and fittings are also for sale at £40,000 plus VAT.

Be The Change first opened a cafe in Worcester's Cornmarket in 2018.

It proved so popular they then opened a second venue, a restaurant, on New Street in 2021.

However, the owners made the decision this year to combine both the cafe and restaurant at 15 New Street instead of keeping them as separate establishments.

Though both the cafe and restaurant is now closed - Be The Change's website is still online and hints that the closure is temporary.

A notice on the website reads: "Be The Change is currently temporarily closed.

"More updates will appear here and on our social channels as and when they are available.

"Thank you for your patience and continued support."

Initially, in September the restaurant said it would be closing for two weeks with no specific reason given.

A post on its Facebook page only said that "things have been very tough lately" and the closure was "through nobody's fault".

However, the building was later put on the market.

Be the Change was the city's foremost vegan restaurant with only Little Bento Box in The Shambles Market Hall being the only completely vegan restaurant left in the city.

This weekend, hundreds of people who enjoy a plant-based diet as well as foodies descended on the city centre for the return of Worcester Vegan Market.

Catering vans selling food such as vegan hot dogs, burgers and noodle dishes were parked in Cathedral Square.

Along the High Street, there were stalls selling bakery items, skincare and jewellery.
