KGV playground in Brickfields closed due to vandalism

Vandals have ripped up sections of the KGV playground in Brickfields soft play area leaving it unsafe for children to enjoy.

For safety reasons, the park will remain temporarily closed so that repairs can be carried out.

Pictures from the park show the area of soft flooring that has been ripped out of the ground, and a sign has been put in place to warn families the park is closed.

In a statement issued online, the city council apologised for the inconvenience.

Cllr Andy Stafford, chairman of the environment committee said: “This is an act of senseless vandalism that is only going to cause upset and disappointment for children and families in the area.

We are sorry to have to announce that the #KGV playground at Brickfields has been vandalised, with parts of the soft play area being ripped off.

 "I am sorry that we have had to close the playground for safety reasons, but we will do our best to get it repaired and open again as quickly as possible."
