Armed police descended on a main road into Worcester following reports of a gunman.
West Mercia Police has confirmed that a car has been searched for a handgun.
This comes following reports received by the force at around 3.30pm of a handgun in a car on the M5 Southbound near junction 4.
Police began searching for the vehicle which was located a short time later on Whittington Road in Worcester.
Officers searched the car but no firearms were found.
