A CHINESE takeaway is closing "full-time" after struggling due to the cost-of-living crisis.

China Leng Foods, based at The Virgin Tavern, Tolladine Road, has confirmed that the business is set to close.

Tayrn Ng, owner of China Leng Foods said: "It really came down to a lack of staff and the rising costs of everything at the moment.

"We are still busy but not every day of the week. It is very sad that we have been forced into this situation."

A statement from the business said it will "pack it in full-time" with the last service taking place tomorrow (Friday).

However, there are still plans for the brand to do pop-ups and events.

"All good things must come to an end… well kind of.

"We have made the final decision to shut down Chinaleng full-time and take our little business on the road part-time

"With how the world is going now, it is impossible to hold a small business.

"Inflation and staffing issue really hit us hard and it’s made the future of being a full-time takeaway a risky one to take, so to save it from later damage we have made the decision to pack our bags and move on the road.

"It was the hardest decision to make as we have had such a fun year doing what we love

"Our diaries are open for event hire, festivals and kitchen take-overs therefore just give us a shout!

"However we will be taking a little break to spend the lost time with our friends and family throughout the festive period. So we will not be accepting bookings until the new year

"Thank you to all of our new and loyal customers over the years, you were the ones that made it all come true, with every order and great review! we couldn’t have done it without you."

In September, the business posted on Instagram the importance of supporting local businesses and how rising costs are "a ticking time bomb".

A spokesperson for the business said: "We have a small favour to ask, and that is to shop local, shop independent and shop small businesses.

"Rising costs have created a ticking time bomb for small businesses. We are all struggling to absorb the impact of spiralling prices.

"It’s heartbreaking to see our favourite shops and restaurants closing up because of this. For two years we have worked so hard to get to where we are now and seeing a future of progression is very uncertain.

"We don’t have start-up loans, funding from the government or inheritance. This was all built from the love of food and long hard hours."
