POLICE are still investigating a man who was arrested after a group of online paedophile hunters carried out a sting operation in Malvern. 

A 39-year-old man was arrested at the Malvern Premier Inn in Townsend Way on Monday (October 31).

The man was arrested after West Mercia Police received a report of suspected inappropriate activity online.

But he was released on bail in early November while investigations continue. 

In its latest statement, West Mercia Police said the arrested man currently remains on bail while investigations continue.

The arrest came after Fleetwood Enforcers, who are a group of online paedophile hunters, carried out a sting operation in Malvern. 

A 30-minute long video, which has now reached over 50,000 views since going live, showed members of the group talking to a man sitting down in a car.

Throughout the video, the group asks him questions about the nature of his conversations with a decoy, who was pretending to be a 14-year-old girl. 

Members of the group also show the man a collection of notes which they claimed were print-outs of messages exchanged with the decoy.

And a 20-minute conversation, the video shows the man being led away by police officers into a police van.  

In a previous statement the police said: "On Monday (October 31), we received a report of suspected inappropriate activity online.

"A 39-year-old man was subsequently arrested.

"He currently remains in custody and the investigation is ongoing."

The police have declined to name the arrested man, in accordance with national police guidelines, or provide any further details.
