BREAD lovers will be in their element as a new family-owned bakery has opened in Worcester city centre.

Peter Cooks Bakery opened in the Hopmarket in The Foregate on Friday, (December 2) and foodies have already been sampling the delights at the shop.

Mavis Cook, who runs the shop with husband Peter, said: “We have never had a shop before.

“We are a wholesalers, we have had a market stall in Worcester.

“We have been looking for a year and decided on the Hopmarket because profits go back into the city of Worcester from the rents, and it’s a really beautiful courtyard”.

The bakery sells a range of breads, sourdoughs and pastries - including vegan pastries. 

And the shop has begun selling its Christmas range including minced pies.

“We sell real bread – there’s only four ingredients, flower, salt, water and yeast," Mrs Cook said.

“Peter’s been a baker for 30 years, and the business has been going for nine years now.

"Please come and visit us."

The shop's opening hours are 8.30am until sold out daily, Monday to Saturday.
