Police were called after reports of violence at a Worcester City Football Club under 18s match.

The club’s Under 18s side took on Boldmere St Michael’s in the Floodlit Cup at Claines Lane yesterday (Monday, December 12).

But eyewitnesses claim the game was marred by the behaviour of fans from both sides after the match.

Police confirmed they were called to the ground in Claines Lane and the victim of an assault was due to speak to officers today (Tuesday).

One told the Worcester News: “I was at the Worcester City U18 cup match and there was violence after the game with spectators from the away team and the home team fighting.

“More than one person was covered in blood. Very unpleasant. I left during the aftermath as it was dangerous.”

A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: “Around 10.40pm we received a report of assault at Worcester City FC’s Claines Lane ground.

“The victim is due to attend Worcester Police Station today to provide more information.”

We have approached Worcester City FC and Worcestershire FA for a comment but have not received a response.
