A WOMAN from Worcester has been fined and ordered to pay court costs for boarding a train without paying for a ticket. 

Olu Gremisola, of Bromyard Road, Worcester, was found guilty of the offence at Worcester Magistrates Court on Friday, (December 16). 

Prosecutor Ms Erskin told the court the 31-year-old failed to produce a ticket on May 9 this year when she was challenged by an inspector in Pershore, having boarded a train to Evesham.

After providing her details she was warned she would be contacted by Great Western Railway (GWR). 

"A letter was sent to her on August 22, there has been no response to date," the prosecutor said. 

After magistrates found the case proved in her absence chairman of the magistrates bench, Ian Latimer, said Gremisola would be fined £220. 

She was also ordered to pay compensation to GWR of £9.10, the cost of the ticket, victim surcharge of £34 and costs of £180 - a total of £443.10.
