An ELDERLY woman was saved following a fire in her living room over the weekend in Worcester.

Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that they were called to the fire on Constance Road, Northwick, on Sunday morning (December 18).

The fire was at the home of a woman in her seventies, who was "led to safety" by fire service personnel while the fire was extinguished.

A spokesperson for Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service said: "A crew from Worcester was alerted by a smoke detector being activated on Constance Road at 5.49am.

"On arrival, a small living room fire was discovered in a two-storey, semi-detached home, which was extinguished using a bucket of water.

"The occupier was a woman in her seventies who was led to safety by the crew and positive pressure ventilation was used after the fire was extinguished."
