OIL spilled out into a road just outside Worcester after a tractor and car were involved in a crash.

Ambulance staff found the driver and passenger outside the vehicles when they arrived at the scene. 

A man and a woman were treated for minor injuries by paramedics before being taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital for further treatment. 

The crash happened at around 2pm at Ockeridge Lane on Wednesday, December. 

Highways cleared up the oil spillage on the road in order for the road to reopen in both directions at 3.30pm.

A spokesperson from the West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "One ambulance was sent and, on arrival, found there had been a collision involving a car and a tractor.

"Two patients, a man and a woman, had already got themselves out of the car and ambulance staff treated them both for minor injuries before conveying them to Worcestershire Royal Hospital for further assessments."

Police officers also arrived at the scene after receiving reports of the crash. 

A spokesperson from West Mercia Police said: "Officers were called around 2.30pm on Wednesday 21 December to reports of a collision in Wichenford on Ockeridge Lane.

"A tractor and a car had been involved in a minor collision however the driver and passenger did go to hospital for treatment.

"The road was closed for a short period of time by local Highways while they cleared away an oil spillage and was reopened at 3.30pm."

A spokesperson from Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue said: "A Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service crew from Worcester Fire Station was called at 2.32pm on 21 December to an RTC in Wichenford where Ockeridge Lane was closed in both directions.

"A car was in collision with a tractor on the roadway. No persons were trapped and the car was made safe by fire service personnel using small tools.

"Highways were requested to clean the road surface after a petrol/diesel spill. A male and a female casualty were handed over to the care of the ambulance service who attended along with police.

"The incident was marked as pending closure at 3.12pm."
