A man's life was saved by a police officer after he fell into a freezing canal in Worcester on Christmas Eve.

PC Garth risked his own life by jumping into the canal to help the man submerged underwater. 

PC Garth also gave him CPR to save his life.

Pippa Mills, West Mercia Police chief constable, said: "Busy night for West Mercia police. 

"Special mention to PC Garth from Worcester who went into a canal and then gave CPR to save the life of a man submerged underwater. 

"With the help of my glamorous assistant Margot, Christmas chocolates delivered to say thank you to those working today."
