A DRIVER hit a lamppost in their car near a roundabout in the early hours of the morning. 

The crash happened at the junction of A4440 and Newtown Road at around 2.40am today (January 17). 

Nobody was injured.

Emergency services including Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service, West Mercia Police, and West Midlands Ambulance Service attended the incident.

A spokesperson from West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "One of our ambulances came across a car that had crashed into a lamppost at the junction of the A4440 and Newtown Road at 2.43am.

"Following assessment, it became apparent the driver of the car was uninjured and we were stood down".

A spokesperson from the Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue said: "Two Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service crews from Worcester Fire Station were called at 02:46 on 17 January to an RTC on the A4440 between Warndon and Whittington.

"The incident involved one car and a lamp post.

"No persons were trapped or injured. Police were left to arrange recovery of the vehicle and Prysmian were informed of damage to the lamppost.

"Ambulance also attended".
