POLICE have issued a warning about the use of E-scooters in public.

West Mercia Police reminded the public that the use of E-scooters on public roads and pavements is illegal.

National trials are in place to study the impact of E-Scooter use, but until the trials are complete and legislation is drawn, E-scooter owners run the risk of having theirs seized.

A West Mercia Police spokesperson said: "Did you get an E-Scooter for Christmas? Are you aware these are illegal to use on public roads/pavements?

"National trials are in place to study the impact of E-Scooter use, until these are complete and legislation is drawn up you run the risk of yours being seized. Don't risk it."

  • North and West Northamptonshire (Northampton, Kettering, Corby and Wellingborough)

The maximum speed for an e-scooter is 15.5mph. Trial e-scooters are limited to this speed and in some areas, e-scooters may be limited to a lower maximum speed.
