TWO people who had a lucky escape after a motorway crash were treated for 'minor injuries' with one casualty taken to Worcester hospital and the other refusing treatment. 

As previously reported, fire crews attended the scene of the crash at Dodderhill between junction 5 (Droitwich) and 6 (Worcester).

Paramedics, including the air ambulance critical care team, also attended the scene.

A spokesperson for the West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called to reports of an RTC on the M5 southbound between junctions 5 and 6 near Dodderhill, Worcester at 10.17pm.

"One ambulance and a paramedic officer were sent to the scene with the Air Ambulance Service Critical Care from Strensham already on scene having come across the incident.

"On arrival, crews found two cars had been involved in a collision and two patients.

"One patient, a man, was treated by ambulance staff for minor injuries before being taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital for further treatment. The second patient declined medical treatment and was discharged at the scene."

Crews from Droitwich, Worcester and Bromsgrove Fire Stations all attended but found nobody trapped in their vehicles.

A spokesperson for Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service said: "The incident involved two cars and one vehicle was moved to the hard shoulder but no persons were trapped. Crews assisted Highways with traffic management. Police, ambulance and Highways all attended but there were no casualties. The incident was marked as closed at 11.01pm."
