A MAN has been released on bail after being arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in Droitwich.

The alleged victim was left seriously hurt following an incident on Westlands estate in Droitwich on Tuesday (January 24).

Police officers swarmed the estate and closed off several roads.

A man in his 30s suffered serious leg injuries and was taken to hospital.

The incident happened at the junction of Drovers Way and Westwood Road, Droitwich. 

The injured man may have been hit by a car in a suspected crash after the ambulance service said it was called to a "road traffic collision" involving a car and a pedestrian. 

The injured man was taken to hospital from Worcester Road, Copcut, Droitwich.

Following enquiries, a 32-year-old man was arrested for attempted murder and has been released on bail.

Police are now appealing for witnesses to the incident.

Chris Percival, detective inspector of Worcester Reactive CID said: "The community at Droitwich will be aware that at 8.30pm on Tuesday (24 January) a number of streets were shut by police around the Westlands in Droitwich. 

"This was because a local man was found with serious injuries in the street.

“A man from Surrey was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and has since been released on bail.

"It’s believed those involved in the incident are known to each other and we are satisfied there is no wider risk to the community.”

“I would appeal to anyone who witnessed this incident or anyone who has any information to please come forward and speak to us. We would especially like to hear from anyone with dash-cam or ring doorbell footage of the incident which may help with the investigation.

It is understood the man suffered serious leg injuries which could be potentially life-changing. Roads were closed while forensics teams conducted an investigation.
