A WORCESTER mum of three diagnosed with cancer fears she "might not have long left" and dreams of taking a trip away with her family.

Michelle Smith, 40, of Northwick, is trying to raise £2000 on GoFundMe to fund the trip for her, her husband Richard Smith and her three children Ben (18), Millie-Ann (15), and Jade (12).

A recent MRI scan has shown a new growth on her lung, and she said she it her children have "suffered" and "struggled to understand" what is happening to her.

Mrs Smith said: "I would love to have special time with my children and husband, but we just physically can’t afford to go anywhere.

"My children have suffered finding out and struggling to understand what’s happening to their mummy.

"With this new mass growing we are not sure what is next and if anything, else can be done for me.

"We aren’t sure if this mean I might not have long left with my family or if there are more operations to be able to help me.

"We would just love just to go away to a caravan in the UK with our dog.

Michelle Smith, affectionately known as Shelly to family and friends, was diagnosed with stage four kidney cancer in November 2021.

She said: "In March 2022 I had an operation to remove my right kidney and since then I’ve been having chemo every six weeks and regular MRI and CT scans.

"I’ve recently just had my sixth lot of chemo and the MRI scan showed I have got a new mass growing on my lung.

"We were meant to have a biopsy done last week. On the day of the biopsy, the MRI scan showed the mass as smaller than we thought but more masses were growing rapidly.

"I had appointment to see my consultant in May which has now been brought forward as an emergency for February 22."

Mrs Smith praised Richard for the support he has given her during the last 18 months.

She said: "My husband works full time bringing up my children which I’m having treatment he’s been my rock.

"There are days where I struggle to do day to day things, and others when I struggle to even get out bed.

"With only one person bringing money in, it is the biggest struggle, but we are just about coping. Our family have supported us the best they can."

So far, the fundraiser has raised £85 since it was created on January 20 2023.
