A MURMURMATION has been captured on video above Droitwich.

Donna Quinn, of Droitwich, captured the video over Stalls Farm Road.

The video shows hundreds of starlings flying in unison overhead, creating amazing shapes and patterns on Saturday, February 11 .

Donna Quinn said: "It is really captivating to watch. If it was not for the car sound, you could almost feel like you are in another world.

"The sound is also amazing itself is also. I think residents have had enough of washing their cars though.

"Try and go to and see them."

According to the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust, birds gather in a murmuration for a variety of reasons, including to offer safety in numbers against predators, to keep warm at night and exchange information about good feeding areas.

They often perform their aerial acrobatics over their roosting site as they gather together for the night.

The best time to see a starling murmuration is in December and January just before dusk, in wide-open skies as they gather for their evening roosts.
