THE chef from a canalside pub which has reopened under new owners said locals have been so welcoming during their soft launch.

Lynne Bisset, who is the new landlady of The Bridge Inn in Tibberton, reopened the pub on Wednesday (March 8).

Luke Conroy, chef and manager, said: "It was a soft opening so we had about 20 or so people there.

"The regulars introduced themselves and it went brilliantly.

"I feel amazing, it is a great opportunity and venture.

"It's a big goal and a little bit of a dream to be fair, I've always wanted to run a kitchen.

"Lynne has saved up for so long and worked so hard for it. It's a new start for us both."

Mrs Bisset has worked in hospitality for years, but this is the first pub she has owned.

Mr Conroy, age 31, has been a chef for 10 years and said he is more excited than nervous about the opening week.

"Before opening, we gutted the place top and bottom, it's a nice little country pub that is cosy and vibrant."

The pub, on Plough Road in Tibberton, is owned by Admiral Taverns who have confirmed that the old landlord has left to take on other opportunities.

A spokesperson for the chain said: “We are champions of local, sustainable community pubs across the UK, and we take great pride in helping our licensees run successful businesses.

"Inevitably there are instances where we part company with our licensees, and in this case the previous tenant took the decision to leave the pub to pursue other opportunities.

“We would like to take this opportunity to thank him for all his hard work.

“We are pleased to have found a new, passionate licensee to take over The Bridge Inn and we're hoping to reopen it in the coming days."

A statement from the new landlords said: "Good afternoon, we are pleased to announce that we are open from 5pm tonight (bar only) kitchen will be up and running soon.

"However, due to unforeseen circumstances, we don't have a card machine so it will be cash only. Hope to see you tonight. Lynne and Luke."
