DRIVERS are being warned to take care as snow causes potholes to appear on road near the city centre.

The damaged section of road is on the B4205 opposite The Beauty Links, Vitamin and Supplements Shop and near St Martins Gate Car Park.

Debris from the potholes covers the road and two large holes can be seen.

Worcestershire Highways said it has appeared after the recent poor weather including freezing road temperatures and snow.

Councillor Lynn Denham, cathedral ward, photographed the potholes on her way into the city centre.

Cllr Denham said: "I noticed the damage as I drove down this morning at about 9.15am [Thursday].

"When I was driving home again in the early afternoon, I noticed the damage & the debris was still there.

"I parked up and took photos of the pothole so I could report it.

"It seemed to me to be potentially hazardous.

"I don't know if it is a result of snow damage, but the road surface seems to be breaking up at this point."

Jon Fraser, head of Worcestershire Highways, said it will be carrying out repair work.

"We will be doing some emergency temporary repairs today to make them safe, and then we will carry out a permanent repair within a few weeks."
