A 33-YEAR-old chef who was caught speeding as he was late for work has been fined by Worcester magistrates. 

Magistrates heard Wilson Trindade Do Nascimento, of Wylds Lane, Worcester, drove at 56mph in the 30mph zone on the B4084 Stoulton. 

The offence was committed on June 26 last year when Trindade Do Nascimento was driving a BMW.

The defendant admitted the offence when he appeared at Worcester Magistrates Court on Friday, (March 10).

Jason Patel, defending Trindade Do Nascimento, explained the defendant was a chef who was late for work after oversleeping.

Mr Patel explained that the section of road was 70mph and went down to 30mph for a short period, and the dad-of-two had not slowed down in time.

The solicitor added it was an isolated offence, the defendant having a clean driving licence prior to the offence.

Magistrates added six penalty points to Trindade Do Nascimento's licence.

He was fined £323 and ordered to pay costs of £90 and victim surcharge of £129.
