A MAN has been taken to a hospital in Birmingham with serious injuries after a house fire in Droitwich.

A child was also assessed at the scene by paramedics with minor injuries after a blaze broke out at a terraced house in Burrish Street.

The man, who is in his 40s, has been taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham for further treatment while the child was discharged at the scene.

Fire crews remain at the road dampening down the property after the blaze broke out at just before 3pm today (Friday).

A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called to reports of a property fire on Burrish Street in Droitwich, Worcester at 3.05pm.

"One ambulance and a paramedic officer were sent to the scene where, on arrivals, crews discovered two patients.

"One man was treated for serious injuries my ambulance crews before being taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham for further treatment.

"A child was assessed for minor injuries by medics before being discharged at the scene."

Five Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service crews from across the county have been sent to Burrish Street.

There are two from Worcester, two from Droitwich and one from Bromsgrove – and the incident command unit from Wyre Forest.
