A previous version of this story incorrectly suggested that Mr Roberts was still on police bail. The Met Police have confirmed that this is not the case and the story below has now been corrected to reflect this.

Police are continuing to investigate allegations against a reality television star from Worcestershire.

George Roberts was a contestant on E4's hit dating show Married at First Sight (MAFS UK) where love-starved strangers meet for the first time on their wedding day.

Mr Roberts, a financial advisor from Malvern and Worcester, was head over heels when he met his bride and former Miss Great Britain April Banbury for the first time on their wedding day.

However, while pre-recorded episodes were on air, Mr Roberts was arrested on suspicion of controlling and coercive behaviour on Thursday, September 29.

He was taken to a Worcestershire police station and was initially bailed to return pending further enquiries. He has since been released under investigation while enquiries continue.

The allegations were made to the Metropolitan Police on Monday, 26 September.

This week the Metropolitan police issued a new update saying: "A 40-year-old man was arrested by Met officers in Worcestershire on Thursday, 29 September on suspicion of controlling and coercive behaviour.

"He was taken to a Worcestershire police station and was initially bailed to return pending further enquiries. He has since been released under investigation while enquiries continue.

"This follows an allegation of controlling and coercive behaviour and harassment reported to the Met on Monday, 26 September."

Last year, the Metropolitan Police arrested the television star in Worcestershire after three of his ex-girlfriends raised concerns.

The ex-girlfriends made independent complaints about his alleged 'obsessive', 'manipulative' and 'abusive' behaviour.

However, Channel 4 defended its inclusion of Mr Roberts on the hit dating show despite calls for the show to be taken off air.

The couple are no longer together and Miss Banbury said she is now seeking therapy after her appearance on MAFS UK.

Married at First Sight's George Roberts set to star in tell-all documentary

Last year, the MAFS star revealed his plans to "speak his truth" in an exclusive documentary after being arrested during his appearance on the E4 reality tv show.

The tell-all documentary will be produced by Emanation Films which is in Worcestershire.

It is not known when the documentary will be aired.
