A DROITWICH pub has received a five-star food hygiene rating.

The Old Cock Inn has been given the top food hygiene rating for the third time running.

The pub has consistently been a five-star rated establishment for the last three inspections.

The FSA said, after their visit on Tuesday, March 21, that the standards were good and all that was required to improve on was some "minor attention to cleaning."

The pub is managed by Claire and Nick Fellows, who were delighted with the latest rating.

Claire said: "It is great news that we have been able to continue our high standards here at the pub.

"We were delighted with the rating as we have been five stars for the last six years since we have been here.

"Some pubs and restaurants really struggle to get this rating, so we are really happy to still have this."

News of the new rating for the Old Cock Inn, in Friar Street, was greeted with joy by customers.

Several said the rating was "very well deserved", with others saying "Only the best for the best" and "I expect nothing less".

In response to the support, Claire said: "It is lovely to see that our customers are happy for us.

"I certainly feel that we are a community-driven pub with lots going on, so to get support from the public shows we are doing something right."

The pub was also given a five-star rating on its previous visit, with the report highlighting the "very good" standard of its hygienic handling of food (including preparation, cooking, re-heating, cooling and storage).

Cleanliness and condition of the facilities and building, and the management of food safety were also both rated as good.
