AN "overlooked" three-legged cat is searching for a new home after her owners moved away.

Milly, a brown tabby, had her lower right hind leg amputated after the blood supply to it was cut off during birth.

The feline was taken in by Cat Protection Worcester's branch after her family moved away and could not take her with them.

Volunteers at the shelter have described Milly as being "overlooked" compared to the other cats.

They are now appealing to would-be adopters to give the affectionate three-legged cat a chance.

Lorna Ingman, the branch’s administration volunteer, said: “Milly is a gorgeous little cat with so much love to give.

"She has been with her fosterer for around a month now, and sadly, we have had no interest in her at all during that time.

"Other cats have come and gone, but poor Milly is being overlooked."

Milly, having never really known anything different from her three legs, can walk, climb and jump just as well as any other cat.

She has been described as enjoying life like any other cat.

Yet, volunteers from Cats Protection in Worcester said they are baffled by the lack of interest in the friendly cat.

Ms Ingman said: “We simply don’t understand it as she’s everything most people want when considering adopting a cat.

"She enjoys company once she knows you and loves to be fussed – often rolling onto her back for more attention!

"Although a little wary of strangers, once she overcomes her shyness, she will make a very cute companion for her new owner.”

During her time with her fosterer, Milly has taken a liking to chasing ping pong balls, and the branch thinks she would be best suited to an owner who will let her settle at her own pace.

Milly is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and up to date with her flea and worm treatments.

A home with no other pets, older children and a safe garden for her to explore would be ideal.

Her new owner will also be offered four weeks of free pet insurance before taking her home.
