FIREFIGHTERS were called to rescue a boat drifting down the River Severn in the early hours of Wednesday morning, (April 12). 

The loose catamaran, which had no one on board at the time, was spotted by police at Worcester Bridge just after 12.30am. 

Police called Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service to assist in the rescue of the boat.

Boat crews from Worcester and Evesham managed to secure the drifting boat before tying it to a post at the Pump House.

No one was injured and firefighters left the scene at 1.20 am.
