A DRIVER had to get on to the bonnet of their car after it got stuck in a Pershore ford. 

Firefighters rushed to Walcot Lane Ford, near Pershore, after being told a person was on the bonnet with the water halfway up the car's wheels. 

The ford had to be cordoned off by firefighters and staff from Worcestershire Highways this morning (Monday).

A Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “HWFR was called out at 9.51am today to rescue from water at Walcot Lane Ford, near Pershore.

“A crew from Pershore Fire Station attended the scene after reports of a person on the bonnet of a car with the water halfway up the wheels.

“The person was able to self-rescue and was left to arrange recovery of the vehicle with fire service personnel cordoning off the area with rescue tape.

“The police were in attendance, and the highways agency was asked to cordon off the area further.

“The incident status was changed to pending closure for HWFRS at 10.32am.”

A spokesperson for Pershore SNT added: "PCSO Smith is in attendance alongside Hereford and Worcester Fire and Evesham Patrol to a car stuck in a Ford in Pershore.

"Everyone is out of the car and safe!"
