IT HAS been an extremely busy start at a new farm shop which officially opened this week.

Three Countie's Produce on Church Street opened its second location at the former Gwillams Farm Shop on Ombersley Road.

Brothers Rob and James Thompson say they have been looking to expand their business out of the city centre for years. 

Rob Thompson said: "It has been exciting to get an out-of-the-town site.

"We have been looking for years and when we saw that Gwillam's Farm Shop closed we saw it as the perfect opportunity. 

"It has been extremely busy, and we have had extremely good feedback."

Since the shop officially opened on Monday (April 24), both brothers have been run off their feet with customers.

The building has undergone a minor refurbishment and now sells plants as well as the existing groceries and fresh produce Gwillam's used to sell.

"We tried to keep the original Gwillam's suppliers and some of our own," Mr  Thompson added.

Three Counties Produce has also given its customers a sneak peek into their new venue. 

Various plants, flowers, soil, tomatoes, and other greens are outside the farm shop.

The inside of the farm shop is decorated with various pictures of fresh produce, a wooden cladding till and fridges.

Gwillam’s Farm Shop in Claines said farewell to its customers on March 11, leaving many speculating about the future of the building. 

On Facebook, Gwillam's Farm Shop said: "We would like to thank all our customers and our loyal, long-serving staff for a wonderful 33 years and wish them well for the future."
