HEARTBROKEN rescue centre volunteers announced a terminally ill puppy has died amid a desperate search to find him a new home.

Worcestershire-based High Hopes Dog Rescue was looking to find foster families to take on Wali and Tishk.

The two five-month-old pups were diagnosed with an incurable heart condition, meaning they were precited to have just months to live.

Tishk died before a new home could be found, a spokesperson for High Hopes Dog Rescue announced.

They said: "We have the most devastating news this afternoon.

"Beautiful Tishk lost his fight late last night and is now in the arms of the angels.

"Life is just so cruel sometimes. We are all heartbroken at the loss of this sweet little man.

"His brother Wali is still doing well and we hope for the best for him.

"We will have his heart scanned to see if there's anything that can be done."

Wali and Tishk arrived at High Hopes earlier this month from Portugal.

Their condition was first noticed after they went on a walk, with Tishk seeming a “little off” after.

He was taken to an emergency vet in the middle of the night where he was diagnosed with a grade three to four heart murmur caused by an issue with his heart valves.

Conditions such as this can be congenital and so his siblings were tested too.

His brother Wali was found to have the same condition, while Tishk’s two sisters have been given the all-clear.

A JustGiving page was launched online to raise money for the dog's vet bills.

A spokesperson said: "The vet bill is ever-rising and we have so far reached nearly half of our goal.

"Thank you to everyone who has donated."

High Hopes does not have a centralised location, as many of the dogs are in foster care with volunteers.

Many of the staff are based in Kidderminster, with some dogs also temporarily housed in kennels in South Wales.

High Hopes Dog Rescue was founded in August 2018, and operates as an international rescue, helping dogs from Romania, Bosnia, Macedonia, and Portugal.
