A TELEVISION star could not hide her excitement as the Conservative party suffered a disastrous night in Worcester during the local elections.

Conservatives lost seven seats and Labour has now become the largest party on the city council for the first time in over 20 years.

Carol Vorderman, best known for her appearance on Countdown for 26 years, praised residents of Worcester for how they voted this year.

The TV personality, age 62, was overjoyed tweeting: "Tories have lost Worcester Council Yessssssssssss And the Tory leader who's been kicked out BLAMING TACTICAL VOTING .... Double yessssssss Go Worcester."

The star punctuated her tweet with several clapping emojis and the flexed bicep muscles.

However, there is no overall control of the authority.

Last night, there were huge wins for the Greens across Worcester, including defeating Tory and city council leader Chris Mitchell.

The Green party picked up four seats to become the city council's second-biggest party.
