Malvern celebrated the coronation of King Charles III with street parties, live music and fun in the park.

Peachfield Neighbourhood Watch held a Big Lunch for residents on Sunday, May 7 and raised more than £500 for St Richard’s Hospice.

They also planted a King Charles III Coronation Tree (holm oak), which will be a lasting reminder within the community of a historic and memorable day.

The tree was planted by Liz Chapman on behalf of the community.

Organisers Bev Brocklehurst, Derek and Sally Bullock, Sam Craig, and Adrian and Liz Vines thanked everyone who came along and gave so generously to St Richard’s.

A family fun day in Priory Park was organised by Malvern Town Council on Sunday and included crafts, face painting, balloon modelling and more for families.

There was live music from Malvern Hills District Brass Band.

Mayor Nick Houghton said it was a fabulous event and that the weather had been kind.

Great Malvern Priory celebrated the coronation with a special Evensong on Saturday, May 6.

The event included the premiere of The King shall Rejoice’, a piece written especially for the coronation by the Priory’s director of music Piers Maxim, who said more than 140 people were in attendance.

A number of places showed the ceremony itself on big screens, including the recently refurbished OCC, which celebrated with a weekend of live music and DJ sets.

Another recently renovated venue, the Newtown Club, offered free tea and coffee during the ceremony and held a free disco on Saturday evening, with treats from Ya-Donut.

Marks & Spencer at the retail park was visited by a VIP (very important pig) on Saturday, with Percy Pig himself making an appearance at the store and posing for photographs.
