Worcester Bosch teamed up with a Lionesses star to support a grassroots football team.

The heating and hot water manufacturer has partnered with England and Manchester City footballer Lauren Hemp.

The unlikely partnership comes as part of Bosch’s Warming Your Community scheme which aims to give back to those making a positive difference to their area.

As such, a new boiler has been installed at Coppull United in West Lancashire with Hemp putting on a training session with young footballers.

Hemp said: “It is important having places like Coppull United.

“When I was younger, I never realised my dreams could become a reality.

“There can always be talent in unexpected places, and we need to try and keep these grassroots spaces where people can express themselves and start their journey as a footballer, like I did.

“Some clubs aren’t as lucky to be able to provide a warm environment for children, so I think this initiative is so important and is going to really benefit this club.”

Hemp added: “I remember being seven or eight and going down to my local football club with kids from school, and it being a place where we could all feel safe and comfortable.

"Even now when I go home, I do my training there, because it offers such a feeling of togetherness. Being here today reminds me a lot of these memories, and it’s great that kids can now come here and feel that protection and warmth like I did.”

Lancashire-based Coppull United is home to the last functioning football pitch in the surrounding area and is as such a vital hub for aspiring footballers.

With its existing boiler beyond repair, and energy costs ever rising, the club could not afford a suitable replacement, making winter months tough for the local players.

Mark Heyes, from Heyes Plumbing and Heating, nominated the club and installed the donated Worcester Bosch boiler free of charge.

“I’m delighted to have been able to support the club even more,” said Mr Heyes, who volunteers at the club.

“The new, efficient boiler will not only keep the club members warm but also help keep running costs down.”

Ann Smith, Coppull United FC treasurer, added: “We can’t thank Worcester Bosch and Lauren enough.

"The new system will keep everybody warm in winter.

"We’re just so grateful for it because we couldn’t afford to do it alone.”
