CHANGES have been made to Worcester's first-ever hot air balloon lineup after the festival was postponed.

Organisers of the Worcester Balloon Festival decided to postpone the event due to Pitchcroft being waterlogged.

The festival was supposed to take place last weekend but will now take place on June 23 and 24.

The newest changes to the balloon festival dates have led its organisers to adapt its timetable.

The balloon ascents and spectacular Night Glow will take place on both evenings, weather permitting, followed by fireworks displays which will now take place later in the evening.

The Night Glows will now take place at 9.45pm and the firework display at 10.10pm.

The circus workshops will also not be moved the new date because they already have a booking.

What is happening at Worcester Balloon Festival?

Fire extinguishers, coffee cups and houses will take to the skies at this year's festival.

There will be motorbike stunts from the Squibb Freestyle motorcycle team and the Stannage Stunt Team.

Live music will come from Vocal High and Got 2 Sing, while there will also be circus workshops taking place throughout Friday evening and all day Saturday.

Guests will get to meet the civil war soldiers and learn how they lived as well as meet birds of prey.

Worcester News readers were 'gutted' to hear that the festival had been postponed

All tickets already purchased were moved to the new dates, however, there will be refunds for people who cannot make the new date.

Demimay Richings said: "Gutted - I can’t do the next date either."

Salim Williams added: "We are away that weekend."

Others had planned to celebrate special occasions with loved ones at the event.

Angie Tippin said: "I was taking my grandson for his birthday."

In a statement released at the time, Worcester Balloon Festival said:

"The decision has been made following a Council and Racecourse site visit this morning.

"As a result of the rain and the forecast this week, it means the grounds are waterlogged and could be slippery in places.

"We are an inclusive event and understand the impact that this might have on some of our attendees with mobility issues."
