AN ELDERLY woman was taken to hospital following a fire caused by "unattended cooking".

The hurt woman was taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital for further treatment though her injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service and West Midlands Ambulance Service attended the fire at the Holloway, in Droitwich, at 4.06pm on Monday, May 29.

The small fire was dealt with by a crew from Droitwich Fire Station.

A spokesperson for Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service said: “It was dealt with by fire service personnel who then used natural ventilation at the scene.

“One woman was left in the care of the ambulance service for assessment. The crew left the incident at 4.54pm.”

The elderly woman was escorted to Worcestershire Royal Hospital following the fire for further assessment.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “We were called by the fire service at 4.09pm on Monday to a fire at a property on The Holloway, Droitwich Spa in Droitwich.

"One ambulance and a paramedic officer attended the scene. Upon arrival, we found an elderly female who was assessed by ambulance staff and had injuries not believed to be life-threatening.

"She was conveyed to Worcestershire Royal Hospital for further assessment.”
