A POPULAR food and drink festival was filled to the brim.

The Vale of Evesham Food & Drink Festival celebrated local producers across three days at Evesham Crown Meadows.

The event, which took place from Friday to Sunday, has been described as being "absolutely packed" by visitors and event organisers.

Mark Cookson, the event organiser, said: "The event was amazing, well attended, great vibe and atmosphere, traders were happy, and the weather was nice."

This year's festival marked its second year and Mr Cookson said he was shocked by the turnout.

"The very first year was very good, and we did not think there could be more people, or we could top that, but it was very popular and well received," Mr Cookson added.

In the future, he hopes to make the festival "even more local", with Evesham people having more stands selling fresh produce from the town.

Mark Goodge, ward councillor for Bengeworth, enjoyed the day out with his daughter.

He said: "On Sunday, it was absolutely packed, and there was the Polish Festival and Bands in the Park also taking place - it was a lovely day out."

The Vale of Evesham Food & Drink Festival was also enjoyed by local police officers who were photographed in medieval law enforcement clothing.

Mick Hurst, the director for the Battle of Evesham, said: "‘We have a great relationship with our local police, who help and advice on the four annual Medieval events we host here in Evesham, and they were delighted to try out some 13th century law enforcement items when they were patrolling the food and drink festival."

The food and drink festival was originally supposed to take place during the first May bank holiday but was cancelled due to poor weather.

Wychavon District Council had announced organisers were forced to cancel the festival due to the high amount of wet weather making it unsafe to hold.
