Two men have been arrested after a gang of people got into a 'heated argument' in the middle of the city street.

Armed officers and police dogs were seen in Diglis yesterday evening (Tuesday, June 20) after reports of people arguing in the street.

Police cars and vans blocked Mill Street and Diglis Road as officers dealt with the altercation.

Concerned people watched on as armed police and officers with dogs flooded the street.

A topless man could be seen in handcuffs flanked by officers. 

Traffic built up in the area while the incident was ongoing and the road remained blocked to vehicles.

A West Mercia Police spokesperson said: “We were called to Princes Drive in Worcester at around 8.30pm on Tuesday, June 20 following reports of an altercation between two women and two men in the street.

“Officers attended and two men have been arrested in connection to the altercation. Enquiries are ongoing.”

An eyewitness said they saw a man being arrested after arguing with people in the street.

“There was an argument going on between a few males and a couple of females,” they said. “The argument ended up getting very heated.

“Many police came and there was a dog as well - possibly around 10 policemen and women

“There were a few armed police as well, wearing protective gear.”

Another eyewitness said she saw a high police presence at the end of Bath Road last night.

“There was about five police cars and they were taking a man away in handcuffs,” she said.
