West Midlands Ambulance said it appeared that the man had fallen off the e-scooter.

The man was taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital for treatment.

A West Midlands Ambulance spokesperson said: "We were called to reports of a patient who had fallen from an e-scooter on Battle Road at 5.42pm yesterday.

"One ambulance and the Midlands Air Ambulance Critical Care Car attended the scene.

"On arrival, we discovered one male patient who was treated for serious injuries before being taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital."

West Mercia Police said they were not called to the incident.

It's legal to use an e-scooter on private land with the permission of the land owner.

When a trial rental scheme is running, members of the public can also use them on roads or cycle lanes, providing they use the correct licence and follow road traffic regulations.

Within Worcester, there is no trial rental scheme making it illegal to ride them in public.

If you are caught breaking these rules, riders can have a £300 fine and six penalty points on their licence for having no insurance and up to £100 fine and three to six penalty points for riding without the correct licence.

If you cause serious harm to another person whilst riding an e-scooter, the incident will be investigated in the same way it would if you were riding a motorcycle or driving a car.
