A FUNDRAISER has been set up so that a "hero" postman who tackled a fire on his rounds can fulfil a lifelong dream.

Charlie Bourne, a postman, used a fire extinguisher to put out flames that reached about nine-feet high on Sycamore Road, Tolladine until fire crews arrived.

Pete Bourne, Charlie's father, has now set up a GoFundMe campaign so that his son, Charlie Bourne, can become an AFF level one skydiver.

Mr Bourne is hoping to raise £2,500 to fulfil his son's dream.

He said: "Charlie has a goal of one day becoming an AFF Level 1 Skydiver.

"It has been his dream for many years after he did a tandem jump as a birthday treat.

"It would be great if people recognised his commitment to the community and donated whatever they could spare for Charlie and his dream."

Mr Bourne also said how proud he was of his son for his heroic actions in putting out the fire.

He said:"He is my son. but he is also my best mate and I am so proud of everything he does.

"Charlie has become a bit of a local hero of late due to his heroic efforts in fighting a fire on one of his postal rounds.

"As soon as things were made safe, Charlie calmly went back to delivering his mail. This was a typical action for Charlie.

"He tends to look after the local community and makes sure everyone is made safe and checks in on the vulnerable."

According to eyewitnesses, Charlie Bourne sprinted down the road to put out flames that reached about nine-feet high.
