A NURSE who threatened a resident and hid the fact he had not administered drugs to others has been struck off.

The decision to remove Razvan Chibzui from the register was decided by the Nursing and Midwifery Council Fitness to Practise Committee.

It found he committed misconduct while at Latimer Court in Worcester and Pirton Grange in Wadborough.

During his time at Latimer Court, he told a distressed resident “If you don’t stop shouting, I will lock you in your room” while in their bedroom.

The threat occurred in July 2020 during the eight months he worked at the home in Darwin Avenue which provides nursing and dementia care to its residents.

Chibzui was later dismissed from the home in September 2020 for gross misconduct and was then employed at Pirton Grange the following February.

At Pirton Grange he tried to conceal the fact he was not administering medication to one or more patients and, in one scenario, had thrown a patient's tablets in the bin.

In these cases, nothing was written down on each patient's medical administration record (MARs) sheet about why the medication was not administered.

A spokesperson for Pirton Grange said: “When the incident occurred in December 2021, we dismissed Mr Chibzui immediately.

"We can also confirm that no harm occurred to any of the people supported at Pirton Grange due to Mr Chibzui’s actions.”

The panel found Chibzui had not provided any insight, remorse or remediation into his misconduct or the vulnerability of the residents involved in each incident and risked harm to many people.

A spokesperson on the committee said: "The panel determined that Mr Chibzui’s actions were not merely serious departures from the standards expected of a registered nurse but serious breaches of the fundamental tenets of the profession.

"Therefore, it was deemed fundamentally incompatible with him remaining on the NMC register."

A spokesperson for Latimer Court said: "We took swift action as soon as the incident was brought to our attention.

"Mr Chibzui was suspended following the incident and dismissed from the home.

"Providing the highest quality care is of the utmost importance to us, and Latimer Court is rated good by the CQC.

"We respect the decision of the NMC."

Chibzui was given a striking-off order and an interim suspension order of 18 months.
