DIVERSIONS have been put in place after an 'immediate road closure' in the city.

Tolladine Road has closed after a water main burst today (Thursday) with Severn Trent Water working at the site.

The affected stretch is under the railway bridge, and the road has been closed between Sherriff Street and Business Revolution Fitness Worcester.

According to the AA, there are currently some delays around Tolladine Road and slow-moving traffic on Sherriff Street, B4205 and Rainbow Hill.

First Worcester has put diversions in place for their 34 service and said they cannot serve Station Steps bus stops.

A spokesperson said: "Service alert for 34.

"Due to the closure of Tolladine Road, service is currently diverted via Shrub Hill Road, Newtown Road and Sherriff Street in both directions. We are unable to serve Station Steps bus stops."

A Worcestershire County Council spokesperson added: "Immediate road closure of Tolladine Road in Worcester due to water main burst under railway bridge.

"Local diversion is Sherriff Street, Newtown Road, Midland Road, and Shrub Hill Road.

"Due to the low bridge, high-sided vehicles can go Berkeley Way, A4440 and then London Road."
