A BURST water is the reason why many parts of Worcester are having water supply issues this morning.

Hundreds of residents in the WR5 and WR8 areas woke up to no water today (Monday).

A water main on Red Hill Lane burst at 4.30am this morning, leading households to either have no water or very low water pressure.

Severn Trent said they are working hard to resolve the issue, and the majority of properties had their supply on an hour later.

It is hoped the rest of the supplies will be back on by 12pm.

A Severn Trent spokesperson said: “At 4.30 this morning, we received notification of a burst water main at Red Hill Lane, and our teams attended the location to get most properties back on supply an hour later.

"We would like to apologise to any customers who are still experiencing low pressure or supply issues and hope to have everything resolved by 12pm.”

One resident living in the affected area said: "Large swathes of south Worcester have woken up without water this morning."

Some shoppers this morning were also disappointed not to claim their Waitrose coffee, with customers being turned away from the hot drink machines.

The coffee machines are currently out of order in the store.

The water company also warned that residents' water may be slightly discoloured or bubbly once the water has returned.
