A 'VERY RUDE' man has been flagged as a possible rogue trader following a report to West Mercia Police.

Police received a report of possible rogue traders in Old Vicarage Close, Kempsey, on Tuesday, August 22.

Rogue traders are individuals who will turn up unannounced and offer to carry out works such as hedge cutting, general gardening, roofing or tarmac driveways often citing that they have spotted a problem and offering to fix it for you.

They will then charge extortionate sums of money for minor or poor-quality work, sometimes offering to accompany victims to the bank to withdraw funds for the work.

PC Dee Stanley, of the Kempsey and Alfrick safer neighbourhood policing team, said: "The man was very rude when his offer of tree pruning was declined by a resident. The vehicle involved was a White open-back Ranger truck, with a registration of VN72 ZGU.

"This is a timely reminder that at this time of year, rogue traders may be operating in the county and we are concerned that residents across our rural policing area may be targeted as we are now in the summer season when gardens need trimming back and roofs and driveways need cleaning."

Police are now advising residents to keep an eye out for this vehicle and report anything suspicious.

West Mercia Police have also advised to not accept work from cold callers or leaflets that are posted through the door, instead choose a trusted contractor.
