RESIDENTS have voiced their frustration after watching thousands of litres of water pour down their road after a pipe burst.

A small stream of water has been trickling down the side of the kerb in Silverdale Avenue, off London road, since Tuesday, which is when residents initially reported the issue.

Cllr Elaine Wilmore has been following up on the issue with Severn Trent and said it is frustrating watching so much water go to waste.

Cllr Wilmore said: "It has been a steady flow, 24 hours a day for seven days, I can imagine thousands of litres of water at least has been lost.

"I received phone calls from residents who were quite frustrated as the water leak had been there since Tuesday, and they hadn't heard anything from Severn Trent."

In response, Severn Trent said they are responding and will be onsite as soon as possible.

According to the water company, their teams are still establishing the cause of the leak and will be working to make a repair and get everything back to normal as quickly as possible.

Cllr Wilmore said residents had told her it was upsetting seeing so much water go to waste, especially in a cost of living and environmental crisis.

"I know we haven't had a dry summer this year, but this time last year, we were close to drought, and water was scarce, so to just watch it pour down the drain," she added.

Cllr Wilmore has spoken to Severn Trent, and they have told her work is set to commence on the ongoing issue next week.

A Severn Trent spokesperson said: “Following reports of a water leak in Silverdale Avenue in Worcester, our teams are responding and will be onsite as soon as possible.

"Once we’ve established the cause of the leak, we’ll be working to make a repair and get everything back to normal as quickly as possible.

“We’re sorry to anybody impacted by this and thank everyone for their patience while we complete this repair.”
