A TEENAGER has been arrested after security at the University of Worcester was forced to evacuate students from the canteen.

Police were called to an incident inside the canteen at the university's St John's Campus on Monday, September 25

A University of Worcester spokesperson said it called police as there was a concern for the man's welfare.

A West Mercia police spokesperson said: "We were called to the University of Worcester campus at around 12.45pm on Monday (September 25) following reports of a disturbance.

"A 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage."

A Tik Tok video uploaded by @carefordclan has been shared of a man speaking to an officer. 

At one point the man is seen in the video pushing a tray return cabinet before the hall is evacuated. 

Police are also seen speaking to the man outside. There were reports of four police cars at St John's Campus.

An eyewitness told us: "There was a lot of commotion, there was yelling and screaming. 

"The canteen was evacuated - they were getting people out quickly."

The University of Worcester said a man was "behaving erratically".

A spokesperson said: "There was a brief disruptive incident at the St. John’s campus cafeteria yesterday. A young man was behaving erratically.

"No one was hurt. Members of the campus security team and senior staff attended promptly together with a police community support officer and West Mercia Police officers out of concern for the man’s welfare.

"The cafeteria resumed functioning normally soon afterwards. There is no reason to expect further disruption."
