PLASTIC barriers under a road bridge were on fire for the second time in two months.

Firefighters were called to the A38 Droitwich Road on Sunday evening (October 8) where plastic barriers were on fire.

It is the second time in as many months that plastic barriers have been set alight under the bridge.

Arsonists were thought to have been responsible for 12 plastic barriers on fire in the same area on Friday, September 1. 

Firefighters used a hose reel and small tools to put out the blaze.

A Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "A HWFR crew from Worcester Fire Station was called at 6.34pm on October 8 to a fire involving road furniture and receptacles on Droitwich Road, Worcester.

"The fire involved plastic barriers on a footpath under a bridge and was fought using a hose reel and small tools.

"A thermal imaging camera was also used to check for hot spots.

"There were no casualties, and no other emergency services attended. The incident was marked as pending closure at 7.04pm."
