Comedian Ed Byrne called into a Worcester pub before performing in the city.

The stand-up, known for shows including Mock the Week, enjoys a “pre-show pint” before his shows while on tour around the country.

Last night (Thursday, October 19) was no different and while in Worcester for a gig at Huntingdon Hall, Ed headed to Firefly in Lowesmoor.

As is now tradition, Ed posted a selfie on social media detailing the pub and beer he had opted for.

In Firefly, he went for a pint of Steady Rolling Man IPA, made by Cheltenham’s DEYA brewing company.

That went down well with his X, formerly Twitter, followers, a number of whom said it was their current favourite beer.

Ed also said the pub was playing music by the band Dinosaur Jr, which is relevant to those who have seen his current show Tragedy Plus Time.

In reply, Andrew Rickman said: “You are definitely one of life’s genuinely funny guys. Great show. Remember to say nice things about us Worcester folk at future shows.”

Paul Whitefield added: “What a great show you put on last night at Huntington Hall. We all thought you were fantastic in your delivery of a difficult subject. You’re a brave man. Well done.”

Ed Byrne was in Redditch two nights ago for a show at the Palace Theatre and enjoyed a pint of Black Rye IPA in The Black Tap.

Earlier this month, he could be found in Evesham’s BCM Beer House, which he called “one of my favourite drinking holes in the country” supping a pint of Anytime IPA by Meantime Brewing Company.
