HOME improvements, a car showroom revamp and school extensions are among the latest planning applications granted by Worcester City Council this week.

Mercedes Benz of Worcester on Hindlip Lane has had a proposal for alterations to a car showroom, the extension of the workshop building and the erection of a new covered storage area approved.

The approval for the design and external appearance of a new switchroom building to Timberdine Substation has also been granted.

The reconfiguration of 8 Bromwich Lane, Worcester earmarked to provide three one-bedroom residential apartments received approval.

The proposal of a single-storey rear extension and first-floor side extension on 5 Bevere Close was approved, while 9 Westonbirt Close has also received the green light for a single-storey rear extension.

Permission to erect a new dwelling with vehicular access on the land adjoining 187 Drake Avenue property has been granted, while a garage will be converted at 43 Grosmont Avenue.

A proposal at 42 Foregate Street, with plans outlining the remodelling and retaining of the commercial use of the ground floor, while creating residential flats on the upper levels was approved, as was a change of use application to turn an office into a beauty salon in the Canalside Office Complex in Lowesmoor

Cranham Primary School received approval for the construction of a single-storey extension to expand its existing disabled WC facility, as did Horizon Community Centre for a single storey extension to accommodate classroom space.

An artificial 3G pitch at Perdiswell Leisure Centre got the green light. The plan also includes hardstanding areas, floodlights, storage container, perimeter fencing and an access footpath.

Lastly, several tree works fell under the gaze of the planning officers, with the reduction of a Crab Apple Tree on 20 Shrubbery Road to be reduced, the crown of a tree on 20 Britannia Square, overhanging Back Lane, by two metres and the planting of a Pollard Oak Tree at 19 Blossom Close all receiving approval.

The council has also received two planning applications over the past week.

The first is the change of use of opticians Specs Express at 10 St Swithins Street, which under the proposal will become a nail salon.

While the second is the proposed construction of a sun house and a shed at 5 Kendal Green.
