A UPDATE has been released over the proposed new Costco which could be opening soon near the border of the M5 in Worcestershire.

Costco Wholesale has launched a consultation on its plans to open a warehouse and petrol station at the former Interbrew site off Eastern Road in Gloucester.

The proposed site is on a brownfield site that has been derelict and empty since 2017 near the Railway Triangle, and if approved, it will neighbour Morrisons.

Proposals also include creating around 630 parking spaces including 20 spaces for disabled badge holders and a number of EV charging points.

It is estimated the 13,109m2 warehouse would create between 180 and 250 new jobs.

Costco, which has 29 sites across the UK, first announced its intention to come to Gloucestershire last November.

Launching the consultation, a spokesperson for Costco Wholesale said: “We’d like to present our proposal to the local community and provide an opportunity for local residents and businesses to provide feedback.

“We’ve written directly to neighbours of our proposed site, but people are welcome to visit our consultation website.”

The online consultation is open until 5pm on November 16 at www.costco-consults.co.uk
