WORCESTER will be remembering those who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country at the annual Remembrance Sunday Service. 

And drivers and pedestrians are being warned about road closures which are needed to allow people to pay their respects. 

Residents are expected to pay their respects to those who gave their lives in World War I and II and conflicts since at Remembrance Services across Worcester. 

And hundreds are set to take part join in Worcester's annual parade and Cathedral service on Sunday, November 13.

 

 

Roads that will be closed for the event are:

  • Cathedral Plaza Service Road
  • Charles Street (City Walls Road to Pump Street)
  • Church Street
  • College Street
  • Cornmarket
  • Deansway
  • Friar Street (Union Street to New Street)
  • High Street (inclduing Cathedral Square)
  • Mealcheapen Street
  • New Street
  • Pump Street
  • Queen Street
  • St Swithin’s Street
  • The Shambles
  • The Trinity
  • Trinity Street

 

The closures are expected to be needed between 8am and 12.30pm. 

Police have said pedestrian access will be maintained at all times.

Meanwhile on Saturday, for a Remembrance Day Civic Service High Street - from its junction with Deansway to the Guildhall - Deansway, College Yard and College Street will be closed from 10.45 am to 11.15 am.

Pershore Remembrance Day Parade

 

November 12 -                                                               

High Street, Broad Street, Church Walk and Church Row. Roads will be reopened as soon as parade progresses.

Roads will be closed for two periods between 10am and 11am and noon and 1pm. 

 

Ombersley and Doverdale Remembrance Day Parade

 

November 12 -A4133 Main Road, 10.30am and 11.30am.

Road will be re-opened as soon as parade progresses.

 

Droitwich Remembrance Day Parade

 

November 12 - The parade starts at 10.40 am along Ombersley Street East into Victoria Square by 10.50am.

Service in Victoria Square until 11.20 am. Roads will be closed from 10.30 am and 11.30 am.   

 

Evesham Remembrance Day Parade

November 12 - Gathering/Outward Parade between the hours of 10 am and 11 am: High Street Amenity Area, High Street and Market Place will be closed.

Outward Parade: between the hours of 10.40 am – 11 am, High Street from Oat Street to Bridge Street and Bridge Street between its junction with High Street and its junction with Mill Streel closed. Return Parade: between the hours of 11.45 am and 12.30 pm: Vine Street for its entire length and Market Place will be closed.

 

Bengeworth Remembrance Day Parade

November 19 - Closure put in place under Wychavon District Council to allow for the Bengeworth Remembrance Parade. Roads will be re-opened as soon as parade progresses. Timings for the outward route will be 10:30 – 11:00 – Glencoe Road, Kings Road (part), Lime Street, Northwick Road (part), Port Street (part). Timings for the return route will be 12:00 – 12:45 and will only be for Elm Road to Coronation Street (part).

 

Eckington Remembrance Day Parade

November 12 - Cotheridge Lane from The Pippins junction and Church Street. Roads will be re-opened as soon as parade progresses. Roads will be closed for two periods between 10.45 am - 11am and then noon - 12.15 pm.
