WORCESTERSHIRE's worst roads with potholes this year can be revealed.

Worcester people are aware of roads that are notorious for pesky potholes, littered with cracks and bumps, forcing them to make the effort to avoid them in cars and on bikes.

But there are a few infamous areas that are flagged up more often than the others.

According to Fix My Street two roads have been particularly complained about this year.

They are the A38 Bath Road in Worcester and Shrawley Road, Fernhill Heath.

"This has left gaps between road and manhole cover with risk of damaging tyres/wheels. Also making loud noise as cars go over it."

A Worcestershire County Council spokesperson said: "We are aware that there are manhole covers on Bath Road that rattle when driven over.

"These covers are the responsibility of Severn Trent Water and we have notified Severn Trent Water of the defects with their infrastructure.

"Worcestershire County Council will continue to monitor these locations and will take the appropriate action to ensure the safety of road users."

The complaint for Shrawley Road, from May, reads: "Pothole is right on the entrance to the street so is it hit by every car and also right in the line of cornering for motorcyclists. It is around 15cm wide."

The council spokesperson said: "We were made aware of a pothole at the junction of Shrawley Road in May and carried out repairs the same month to rectify this defect."

Meanwhile we randomly picked a road to examine its potholes.

The Hill Avenue in Green Hill, Worcester, was chosen and it appeared to have a number of issues.

"In light of the comments made to us by Worcester News regarding the current condition of this road surface we will make arrangements for this location to be re-inspected."

The spokesperson said, during the last financial year, up to March this year, the authority repaired nearly 14,000 potholes on the county’s roads.

"The council continues to invest significantly in our defect repair service," the spokesperson said.
